Spatial analysis operations
Slide 13 of 15
The real power of GIS is in its ability to enable spatial analysis. In this example, various GIS layers are processed in order to determine the best possible site to run a new utility line. Assorted spatial operations (extract, draw buffer, dissolve features, overlay features) are used to create new layers from existing layers, and relate layers to each other, all in order to answer critical questions in the siting example.
